Q: Does the town take care of refuse pick up?
A: No. Residents need to make arrangements for refuse pick up. The Town of Smelser only picks up recycling.

Q: Do I need a permit for fireworks?
A: Wisconsin Statute 167.10 reads:
No permit required for : sparklers up to 36 inches in length, stationary cones and fountains, smoke bombs and toy snakes, confetti poppers (with less than 1/4" grain of explosive mixture) and caps,
and novelty devices that spin or move on the ground.
A permit is required for the following: any device that explodes or leaves the ground is classified as a firework and requires a valid municipal permit. This includes: firecrackers, cherry bombs, bottle rockets, roman candles and aerial repeaters and salutes.
Permits are issued by the Town Chairman.
